Registered Specialist in Equine Medicine
Catherine graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995. She worked in mixed and equine practice in Australia and England and joined Scone Equine Hospital in 2000. She has practiced as a stud resident veterinarian and took part in Scone Equine Hospital’s exchange program with Newmarket Equine Hospital. Catherine gained Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Medicine in 2003. She spent six months as a Fellow of Equine Perinatology and Neonatology at the University of Pennsylvania and gained Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2007. Catherine is a registered specialist in Equine Medicine and is currently researching the usefulness of iron as a predictor of illness in foals.
The SEH has five Specialists in Equine Medicine or Surgery and a number of highly experienced senior veterinarians. Their skills and experiences cover all disciplines of equine veterinary science.
The strength of Scone Equine Hospital is sustained by the technical knowledge of the people in our practice and the relationships they develop with our clients and the people we work with.
Scone Equine Hospital aims to provide dedicated expert care, service and professional leadership in equine veterinary practice. We provide practical clinical training for 30-40 veterinary students and veterinarians and up to 60 veterinary nurses each year.
When Holbrook Thoroughbreds’ mare Girl in a Storm needed emergency
surgery, Julie Harris put her into the care of an experienced team at
Scone Equine Hospital. Surgery, in any situation carries risk but with
heavily pregnant Girl in a Storm, it was complex and urgent.
